Introduction


This Ladder Safety Awareness Course is designed to improve workers awareness of ladder safety and the role they play in ladder safety. 

Although the course makes reference to UK regulations, the information provided would be useful to anyone aiming to improve their knowledge of ladders, the associated risks and control measures that can be adopted.

Falls from height is the biggest cause of UK fatalities at work 

Between 2019 and 2020, the biggest cause of fatalities in the UK was working at height. 

Evidence of large fines 

Companies have a legal duty to their employees and persons not in their employment with regard to ladder safety.

There is specific legislation concerning ladders

Laws that govern ladders and stepladders in the UK include: 

a) The Work at Height Regulations 2005

SCHEDULE 6 - REQUIREMENTS FOR LADDERS

b) The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 - requirement for risk assessment under Regulation 3. 

c) The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 - requirement for inspection and maintenance.

    No. No prior knowledge or training is required.

  • How long will this course take?

    Most people will complete this course in 1hr 30 minutes.

  • Can the course be tailored to my workplace?

    Yes. At PCR we suggest that courses are tailored. We can use your ladder safety documentation within the presentation, and you can receive your certificate with your company logo on it.

  • Will I get a certificate from my study?

    Yes. Once you pass all the Modules, you will be able to download your certificate immediately.

  • How long will my certificate last?

    There is no regulated set time for the renewal of ladder safety awareness courses, but given the risks of working on ladders, we have added a 12-month expiry date.
